SPIRTUAL WARFARE - Part 2: Unforgiven

In addressing what the Scriptures reveal about the fall of Lucifer, the angels that rebelled, and the judgment that fell upon the pre-adamic earth with its inhabitants, it is an established truth that these entities are beyond redemption. When Lucifer and his angels fell, there was no savior sent for them. They will forever exist in a state of unforgiveness. Friends, have you ever wondered about the reasons as to why they will never be forgiven? Consider what we see revealed about the person of the Holy Spirit, as the Lord deals with His chosen people Israel.

For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.(Isaiah 63:8-10)

So we see from the Scriptures that the Holy Spirit can be vexed by a rebellious heart, and grieved by corrupt communication. He can be distressed, agitated, deeply wounded, and even tormented by the things that people say. Israel's rebellion could be characterized by not only their verbal complaints and murmurings against the Lord, but also by their rebellious, unbelieving hearts... even in light of the many wonders they witnessed. So the Lord God became their enemy and fought against them.

And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.(Matthew 12:32)

But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.(Mark 3:29)

Blasphemy against the person of the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this life or the next. However, what does it mean to blaspheme?

I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. (John 10:30-33)

It would seem that the reason Lucifer will never be forgiven is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. He rebelled against the Spirit that anointed him... and the Spirit was deeply wounded by Lucifer's campaign against God. We don't know how long this went on. For the Lord has shown Himself to be gracious, long-suffering, slow to anger, and full of mercies made brand new every day. Be that as it may, Lucifer's campaign continued... and like a politician with a charisma that defies description, he convinced the angels under his authority to join him in rebellion. In addition to the angels, he eventually convinces every single inhabitant on the earth to join the rebellion... insomuch that no flesh was spared judgment. The angels and inhabitants were seduced into the same sin as Lucifer. I would submit to you that the lie that was used here, was the same lie used to deceive the woman at the tree of the knowledge of good and evil... equality with God. You can all ascend to godhood! We can all be equal! We can all receive worship! So not only does Lucifer begin to receive worship, but so do the fallen angels. They receive it from the inhabitants as well as from each other. The inhabitants begin to worship Lucifer, the fallen angels, each other... even animals and idols of gold, silver, wood, and stone. This is why they will never be forgiven.

Now having touched upon the fall of Lucifer and his angels, I think it would be beneficial to keep moving through these doors as long as they remain open. There is another element to the forces of the Kingdom of Darkness that must be brought out into the light.

Who or what are the demons that we face every day? Some believe the demons to be the fallen angels. I do not because the Scriptures make a clear distinction between the two. Angels are heaven bound, while demons are earth bound. We are told in the book of Hebrews to be mindful of how we treat strangers, because man has entertained angels unaware.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.(Hebrews 13:2)

These would be the wingless angels mistaken for men. However most angels reside in the heavens. Demons on the other hand seem to be bound to this earth. In the Scriptures you will not find any examples of demons ascending from the earth or descending from heavenly places. Another distinction is the reality that angels have bodies, while demons seek bodies. The angels that visited Abraham ate, drank, and washed their feet(Genesis 18:3-5,8). Jacob wrestled with the Angel of the Lord Himself(Genesis 32). It is clear from the Scriptures that angels have bodies of their own. You will never find examples of angels desiring to inhabit the body of another. Demons however, are willing to dwell in one body by the thousands. Take the famous account of the demon called Legion for example.

And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. (Luke 8:26-33)

Historically speaking, a legion was a unit of the Roman army that could consist of anywhere between three thousand and six thousand soldiers. When Jesus permitted Legion to enter into the herd of swine, they immediately stampeded down a hill into a lake and drowned. People of God, this is something to consider for a moment. Two men were inhabited by over two thousand demons! Furthermore, this example shows us that demons are capable of inhabiting the bodies of animals, and will do so if they're desperate enough. That being stated, I think we have sufficient Scriptural support to dismiss the claim that demons and fallen angels are the same beings. So then, what are demons? I believe them to be the disembodied spirits of the pre-adamic inhabitants who perished under judgment when the angel Lucifer rebelled. This tells me that demons number in the millions... possibly billions. Their abode today is a place called the Bottomless Pit. It is also referred to as the Deep, and the Abyss. This realm appears to be a prison for demons. Apparently there is such horror, darkness, and torment in this place that even the demon Legion begged and pleaded with desperation, that the Lord would not send it there!

Thankfully, by the grace of God, most of the demons are still confined to the Pit. However, we are facing more demons today than we have in times past. And as we draw closer to the end of this age, more demons will be released. The book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, tells us that one of the future judgments upon mankind will be the emptying of the Bottomless Pit upon the earth. There will be such a release of demonic torment, that every man and every woman dwelling on the earth will seek death and not find it... with the exception of the 144,000 sealed from the tribes of Israel.

When the Lord began to increase my understanding of the reasons for His judgments I was shocked. All I could say was amen... your judgments truly are just and righteous beyond our comprehension.

Why would God allow a continual release of the demons from the Bottomless Pit... a release that will culminate with the entire contents of the Abyss being vomited out upon humanity? Why? Because a wicked and perverse humanity has cultivated an ever increasing need for them. This is part of the great deception that has fallen upon us all.
